Does jewelry darken over time?
Gold plated jewelry has a good hold, but to preserve the galvanic and make it last as long as possible, you need to take care of it: do not expose it to perfume, alcohol, avoid wetting it with salt water or chlorine. And remove it before going to sleep.
You can also clean them with baking soda and a sheet of aluminum foil: they will become very shiny!
